Job Description / Duties

We’re looking for a professional appraiser to fill an integral role in our Real Estate Services division. You’ll have considerable autonomy in appraising and negotiating the acquisition, lease and disposal of property for a variety of City departments. You will estimate the market value of properties, recommend purchases and disposals, maintain an inventory of City-owned properties, and prepare relevant documentation. This position involves considerable liaison with numerous internal and external contacts.

Qualifications / Required Skills

This is a fast-paced job requiring someone with highly developed negotiation, interpersonal, and organizational skills. You have a Bachelor’s degree, are certified as an Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) and have a Diploma with Real Estate Institute of BC (Appraisal Option). A Senior Member with the International Right of Way Association is considered an asset. With at least five years of experience in property appraisal and negotiations, you have extensive knowledge of market values, property valuation methodology and land title office operations.
