Job Description / Duties

With an incredibly solid foundation and track record, the organization is looking to expand its creative placemaking offering in Vancouver, and a President is being sought to ensure Artscape’s success in the area. With many established relationships in this market already, and with a successful track record of consulting and engaging leaders from within the planning and arts and cultural community, BC Artscape has significant start-up funding already in place, several key Board members confirmed and sights set on a number of projects.

The President, BC Artscape will secure and build a pipeline of social purpose real estate development projects that create space for creativity within the arts and cultural sector while simultaneously transforming communities and advancing public policy. The President will be responsible for building brand awareness and enhancing the local profile of the organization by engaging stakeholders at all levels, including partners, funders and government. This individual will play a pivotal role in molding BC Artscape into a world class arts and cultural organization that will significantly improve the communities within our city and province.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The ideal candidate will be an energetic and inspiring executive with management experience and significant exposure to the urban planning and/or real estate development environment. The successful candidate must have and understanding of the development planning approval process, solid budgetary management experience, experience negotiating with various parties, and project management skills. He or she must be passionate about developing the arts and cultural community within Vancouver, and must be capable of leveraging a complex partnership model in order to do so. With an understanding of the dynamics of reporting to a Board, this individual brings an entrepreneurial perspective with the ability to build a scalable operation poised for long term success.
