Job Description / Duties

We have an excellent career opportunity for a results-oriented high achiever to join our management team. Reporting to the General Manager – Planning, Properties and Permits, you will plan, direct and supervise a group of professionals and all activities pertaining to the real estate services and needs of the District. This includes:

• active management of real estate assets
• formulating and recommending real estate strategy for the District
• preparing strategic and work plans
• overseeing negotiations leading to the leasing and licensing of DNV properties, agreement renewals, and the purchase and sale of property
• negotiating high profile real estate transactions

In addition to being a leader and coach to the Real Estate and Properties team, you will write council reports and policy, and attend council and committee meetings to provide information, advice and recommendations.

Qualifications / Required Skills

You have several years of related experience involving your extensive knowledge of real estate issues and opportunities and the development of strategies, plans and policy. You have a proven ability to work with all levels of government and to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Your ability to build relationships with council, committee members, the business community and other members of staff is excellent as is your ability to manage and coach staff. Your experience also includes preparing and monitoring budgets. You have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Urban Land Economics, Commerce or Business. Equivalent experience and education may be considered.
