The BC Energy Step Code is an integral part of British Columbia's CleanBC Plan to shift toward a resilient and more energy-efficient future for new houses and buildings. Through this webinar you will learn what the BC Energy Step Code is, how it supports B.C. Government mandates and enables local government leadership on innovation and climate action, and how it will inform the next edition of the BC Building Code. You will also come away with an understanding of the features of a BC Energy Step Code house and how design and construction practices are changing as a result. Finally, you will learn why this matters to REIBC members as a result of the tangible benefits for home buyers and sellers
Andrew Pape-Salmon MRM, P.Eng., FCSSE
Andrew is the Executive Director of the B.C. Building and Safety Standards Branch. The Branch is responsible for the Building Act, Safety Standards Act, and Homeowner Protection Act, along with regulations for buildings and technical systems such as the BC Building, Plumbing and Fire Codes, including the Energy Step Code, and the Electrical and Gas Safety Regulations.
Andrew is a Professional Engineer with a master’s degree in Resource and Environmental Management. Over the past twenty years Andrew has worked with communities, all levels of government, the private sector, energy utilities and academia to support market transformation efforts toward sustainability and resiliency. This includes work on energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate action and seismic resiliency. He has served on the Board of Directors of BOMA-Victoria and the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance (now Efficiency Canada).
