Bio/Background
After many years of working in the public sector I found myself looking for a better way of earning a good wage. In September of 2014 I was let go from my position as a machine shop supervisor due to cutbacks, after a 13 year career there. This left me without work and no way to support my growing family. I applied to BC Assessment in April of 2015 and was hired on as a temporary Property Information Collector in June of 2015. This was a new and exciting role for me to take on collecting inventory and measuring houses and buildings all around northern BC. I had the opportunity to take some courses through the Sauder School of Business and was happy to do so. It had been many years since I had done any type of schooling and took the challenge on head on. After completing my first course, I wanted to continue to learn and continued taking courses. In June 2021 I had completed the requirements to graduate from UBC with a Diploma of Urban Land Economics. I am currently working on completing BUSI 443, which will also allow me to qualify for a UBC – Post Graduate Certificate in Real Property Valuation.
I am so proud to have been able to complete this diploma and I have chosen to continue on with a Degree in General Studies from Athabasca University allowing me to be able to grow further within BC Assessment. I attained a Permanent Property Information Collector position in May of 2018, and was offered an acting appraiser role on the residential valuation team in June 2018 to March 2019. From there I continued to grow as a leader and in October 2019 I was successful in a promotion to Senior Data Collector and took on that position overseeing a team of 9 Property Information Collectors. I was recently promoted to Appraiser on the residential team in the Prince George Office and look forward to growing my career for the foreseeable future. Including my time as a Senior Data Collector, acting appraiser time in 2018 and my present appointment I have a total of approximately 3-1/2 years of appraisal experience (43 months). I have been working with BC Assessment since June 2015 and celebrated my 7th anniversary on June 29th, 2022.
