Job Description / Duties

The City of Medicine Hat is seeking an experienced individual to be a part of the Assessment team. This position is the first line resource for a team of assessors and is responsible for detailed and complex analysis to determine the values of all types of property within the city of Medicine Hat. Other duties include planning projects and coordinating Assessors accordingly, inspecting real property and recording detailed data, and calculating the assessment value of all types of property using mass appraisal techniques which include replacement costs, direct sales comparisons, and income approach.

If you have previous supervisory experience, are knowledgeable in assessment principles, and have demonstrated proficiency in a wide range of complex mathematical analysis, then this is the opportunity for you! The ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, mediate and resolve escalating situations involving conflict, and previous experience

Qualifications / Required Skills

Required Qualifications:
 Post-secondary diploma in property assessment or related field;
 Six (6) years previous assessment experience with supervisory experience;
 Accredited Municipal Assessor of Alberta (AMAA) or Accredited Appraiser with the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AACI);
 Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record;
 A management approved combination of education and experience may be considered.
