Job Description / Duties
The UBC Real Estate Division is looking for a motivated and independent self-starter to join our education team. Working out of UBC's Vancouver campus, no two days are exactly alike for our Course Specialists. As a key member of the academic team, this position offers the opportunity to work with diverse participants in the real estate and educational community in a supportive and collegial environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates attention to detail and has excellent communication skills. He or she is a motivated and independent self-starter, a lifelong learner who enjoys balancing multiple projects at once. A passion for real estate and a commitment to providing our students with an exceptional educational experience is a must!
The Course Specialist is an integral part of the team responsible for the Division’s educational offerings. The course specialist works with a diverse group of subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure course materials are up to date, accurate, and the best quality possible. Responsibilities include:
researching, writing, and editing course materials, assignments, and exams on various real estate related topics;
working with real estate industry stakeholders to complete curriculum reviews and needs assessments;
collaborating with subject matter experts, curriculum developers, and instructional support staff to facilitate the delivery of the Division’s educational programs;
recruiting and managing instructors, markers, and tutors as required; and
acting as a content and academic advisor to a wide range of students.
Qualifications / Required Skills
The ideal candidate has post-secondary education in real estate or finance, plus work experience in real estate or education. Excellence in written and verbal communications are a must, as well as strong organizational and prioritization skills.
