Land Acquisition Officer
$66,557.72 - $75,884.38 annually
The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development has a mandate to manage specified Crown land and resources in a manner that embraces the economic, environmental and social goals of government. As a Land Acquisition Officer, you will negotiate with private landowners for the acquisition of land to facilitate legal access to roads and rights of way for natural resource extraction and/or acquiring appropriate levels of legal interest in land. You will utilize your skills as a negotiator, communicator and facilitator while understanding the importance of using integrative negotiations to acquire interest in land in a legal, cost effective, and timely fashion. You will also have the opportunity to lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of complex projects by developing and recommending land acquisition strategies. These strategies will be used to outline project goals, objectives, scope, deliverables, timelines, communications plans, resource allocation, and performance measures.

Qualifications for this role include:
• Degree in Urban Land Economics, Geography, Planning, Natural Resource Management, Public or Business Administration, Law or related discipline, plus a minimum of 3 years of experience conducting one or more of the following: real estate acquisitions, expropriations, land dispositions, property negotiations; or real estate appraisals; OR
• Diploma in Urban Land Economics, Geography, Planning, Natural Resource Management, Public or Business Administration, or a related discipline plus a minimum of 5 years of experience conducting one or more of the following: real estate acquisitions, expropriations, land dispositions, property negotiations, or real estate appraisals.
• Registered or eligible to register with the Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute, Real Estate Institute of BC, Senior Member of the International Right of Way Association or equivalent institute or association.
